SUMMARY

Year of the Rooster, A play by Eric Dufault, is cut from the same cloth as the best of Greek drama, with gorgeously written tragic characters, torrents of raw emotion, and the agonizing recognition of how fate responds to man’s choices. It’s masterful traditional theater, and one of the best plays of the year. Oh, and did we mention its hero is a cock-fighting rooster?

It’s bewildering – but the same play that stars a roided-out, tortured fighting bird is also one of the most efficiently written dramas and funniest comedies currently onstage.
